A 4.1-magnitude earthquake in Tennessee woke up families and rattled homes as far away as Atlanta as it spread tremors across portions of the southern U.S. on Saturday morning. No injuries or major damage were immediately reported.

A mild 4.1 magnitude earthquake about 30 miles south of Knoxville, Tennessee, was felt across the southeastern region of the United States Saturday morning from Chattanooga, Tennessee, to Atlanta, Georgia;

The quake could be felt in parts of the Carolinas, Alabama, Kentucky, Georgia and Virginia, according to early data from USGS.
