Firefighters responded to a fire on Grand Rapids’ southeast side Tuesday night. Just after 9:30 p.m., the Grand Rapids Fire Department was called to a home on Kalamazoo Avenue SE between Prince Street SE and Watkins Street SE.

Authorities say heating units caused two fires in Grand Rapids on Tuesday. The Grand Rapids Fire Department said the first fire happened shortly before 6 p.m. Tuesday on Veto Street NW near Deloney Avenue SW.

The first call came in just before 6 p.m. on Veto St NW near Deloney Ave— a propane heater caught a garage on fire and the heat damaged the neighbor's house. According to their release, a man living there had walked inside for a moment while working on their truck and, hearing a 'boom' ran back out to find a ball of fire.
