(Reuters) -U.S. aircraft startup JetZero, which has secured investments from United Airlines and Alaska Airlines, will invest $4.7 billion over a decade on a production facility and headquarters in North Carolina, the state said on Thursday.
GREENSBORO, N.C. — After months of speculation, JetZero will officially build its new factory in Greensboro at Piedmont Triad International Airport, a move expected to create nearly 15,000 local jobs and billions of dollars in economic impact.
The project is expected to create more than 14,560 jobs by 2063. The jobs will have an average wage of $89,340, according to the company. It is the largest economic development project in North Carolina history, based on job commitment, state officials said.
On Thursday, the N.C. Economic Investment Committee awarded JetZero an incentive package to build at the Piedmont Triad International Airport, about 65 miles west of Durham. The state grant will be worth up to $1.17 billion if the jet maker achieves its hiring and investment goals by 2036
