Maryland men’s basketball plays in the Sweet 16 on Thursday night for the first time since 2016 against top-seeded Florida, one of the favorites to win the national championship — and yet all eyes are on coach Kevin Willard and his immediate future.

Willard’s Terrapins take on top-seeded Florida in a West Regional Sweet 16 game Thursday night. He is lobbying for more cash for his program.

Willard, who had been remarkably open and unfiltered over the past week, declined to talk about his future with the Terps on Wednesday.

No. 1 seed Florida shot nearly 50% from the field and 40% from 3 in the first half. The Gators also out-rebounded Maryland basketball, 21-10. But Florida's 13 turnovers in the first half kept the game much closer than what it could've been.

The siblings both excel at rebounding. Angel proudly displayed a shirt Thursday that read “I’m from Baltimore” from her seat a few rows up.
