Horse racing hasn't had a triple crown winner since 2018. That drought is now guaranteed to last another year after the announcement that Kentucky Derby winner Sovereignty won't be running in the Preakness Stakes next Saturday.

Sovereignty, which recently won the Kentucky Derby, would have needed victories at the Preakness Stakes and Belmont Stakes to secure the Triple Crown.
