Imphal: A day after the resignation of Manipur Chief Minister N. Biren Singh, hectic parleys were going on to choose an alternate leader of the ruling BJP legislature party who would lead the new government.

According to the sources, Patra met Speaker Thokchom Satyabrata, municipal administration housing development minister Y Khemchand, education minister Thounaojam Basanta Kumar Singh and BJP MLA Th Radheshyam.

In his resignation letter to the Manipur Governor Ajay Bhalla, N Biren Singh stated, "It has been an honour to serve the people of Manipur so far. "

A day after Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh tendered his resignation, state BJP in-charge Sambit Patra on Monday held closed-door meetings with a few BJP legislators at a hotel here to decide the next course of action, party sources said.
