Blizzard has announced that Diablo 4’s next expansion will only launch sometime in 2026. This marks a turnaround from the developer’s previously-announced plans, which involved the action-RPG getting annual paid expansions on top of its usual seasonal updates. The game’s latest season, the Season of Witchcraft, launched in January 2025.

Fans hoping that "one expansion per year" plan was still in effect got bad news from Diablo 4, but 2025 will still bring new content.

At the DICE video game networking conference, Rod Fergusson, General Manager of Diablo 4, announced that the game's next expansion, set to follow Vessel of Hatred, will launch in 2026. This news, not yet shared through Blizzard's official channels,

Diablo IV’s first expansion, Vessel of Hatred, arrived a year and change after the game launched. That won’t be the case for its next big content drop, however. Franchise boss Rod Ferguson revealed at DICE Summit 2025 in Las Vegas this week that Diablo IV’s second expansion will be arriving sometime in 2026.
