Blue Origin announced plans to lay off about 10% of its workforce — or more than 1,000 employees — nearly a month after the company debuted its first orbital rocket.

Jeff Bezos’s Blue Origin rocket company plans to lay off 10 percent of its workforce as it seeks to revamp its operations to better compete with Elon Musk’s SpaceX.

Blue Origin has drawn unfavorable comparisons to Elon Musk’s SpaceX, which leapfrogged many startups to become the world’s most prolific rocket launcher.
