Pete Alonso’s free-agent saga is over, and he ended up right where he started. The first baseman agreed to a two-year, $54 million contract with the Mets, The Post’s Jon Heyman reported.

The New York Mets are reuniting with first baseman Pete Alonso, who will now take aim at the franchise's all-time home run record as they make a run toward October.

Alonso had to accept a two-year contract that included a player opt-out after this season to return to the Mets ahead of the first day of spring training.
