Disney was enthusiastic about his TV pitch for "Elena," about a girl who must content herself with ruling as a princess until she is mature enough to claim her rightful title of queen, he said.

Elena – who follows Disney's first black princess, Tiana, in 2009's The Princess and the Frog – is voiced by Aimee Carrero, who has appeared in Young & Hungry and Level Up.
