Nissan Motor Co. plans to close two factories in Japan, as well as locations in four other countries as part of its restructuring and cost-cutting process, the Yomiuri newspaper and other news outlets reported,

Japanese factories won't be spared as Nissan pares back its manufacturing capacity in order to stop the flow of red ink.

Nissan is considering closing several factories in Japan and overseas as part of a major cost-cutting plan. The company may shut its historic Oppama and Shonan plants in Japan, leaving only three active car assembly factories in the country.
