A tornado touched down in Roane County the night of May 20. The storm touched down near Oliver Springs as a EF-1 tornado, according to a National Weather Service preliminary survey. The storm tracked along Old Harriman Highway between Blair Road and Whaley Road.
The National Weather Service confirmed that two EF-1 tornadoes hit East Tennessee, causing concentrated damage and downed trees, but no injuries or fatalities.
Amid severe thunderstorm warnings, the National Weather Service confirmed the touch down of a tornado north of I-40 on May 20.
The first tornado hit Oliver Springs Tuesday afternoon, while the second hit Cumberland County later in the evening, according to the National Weather Service.
