Liverpool's march to the Premier League title continued with a 3-1 victory over last-placed Southampton on Saturday as Mohamed Salah bagged a double and Darwin Nunez scored to give them a 16-point provisional lead over Arsenal.

Manchester City are far from their best but Liverpool still had a job to do at the Etihad, where they had not won in the league since 2015. With Arsenal losing at home against West Ham on Saturday, Liverpool had the chance to make their lead at the top of the table even more intimidating.

There is no doubt that Manchester City have been the dominant force in this era of English football. Under Pep Guardiola, they have won six Premier League titles in seven years after claiming a record fourth in a row in 2023/24.
