Former U.S. House candidate Alex Balazs has announced another attempt to run for North Dakota’s seat in the House of Representatives.

Balazs, of Cando, received the endorsement of North Dakota Republicans for the open U.S. House seat during the 2024 state convention in Fargo. However, the support came after Fedorchak withdrew her name from consideration.

North Dakota Sen. Judy Lee and Reps. Jim Jonas and Austen Schauer, all Republicans, announced that they would campaign to represent District 13 in the state Legislature.

Alex Balazs, who ran for U.S. House in North Dakota in 2024, announced he will challenge incumbent Julie Fedorchak for the state’s at-large seat in 2026.

FARGO – At their state convention in December, the League of Women Voters of North Dakota (LWVND) installed new officers and state board members. Elected to a two-year term as state president is Kathy Tweeten of Bismarck. Tweeten has been active with the Bismarck-Mandan chapter and previously served on the state board of directors.

The New Year is ringing in judicial history in North Dakota. Justice Lisa Fair McEvers will take the bench as the first woman ever elected Chief Justice of the North Dakota Supreme Court. Justice McEvers is bringing 12 years of experience on the state’s highest court into the role.

Matt Perdue has been elected to lead North Dakota Farmers Union as its next president. Delegates to the 99th annual convention in Bismarck selected him as just the tenth individual to take the reins of the state’s largest general farm organization and the youngest at 33 years of age.

The North Dakota Wheat Commission has announced upcoming elections for county representatives in the South Central (District 3) and Northeast (District 6) regions. These elections offer local producers a direct voice in how wheat checkoff funds are invested to benefit local producers.

Perdue, 33, will be the youngest person to ever hold that position for the state's largest ag organization and the largest Farmers Union organization in the country.
