President Donald Trump has posted private text messages from the head of NATO and France's president to the U.S. President, shortly after Norway's leader confirmed a leaked exchange did show tense correspondence between the Republican and NATO leaders.

Trump posted fawning messages from Macron and Rutte praising the US president for unspecified actions in Syria.

Trump posted screenshots of private messages sent by French President Emmanuel Macron and NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte.

President Donald Trump reiterated his desire for the United States to control Greenland in a series of overnight Truth Social posts going into Tuesday, complete with apparent updates from fellow world leaders Mark Rutte and Emmanuel Macron.

“I had a very good telephone call with Mark Rutte, the Secretary General of NATO, concerning Greenland,” Trump wrote. “I agreed to a meeting of the various parties in Davos, Switzerland. As I expressed to everyone, very plainly, Greenland is imperative for National and World Security. There can be no going back — On that, everyone agrees!”
