Diana Taurasi is widely regarded as one of the greatest players to ever wear a WNBA uniform. Now 42 years old, the Chino, California native was the top pick in the 2004 WNBA Draft. She joined the Phoenix Mercury that year and spent her entire 20-year career with the franchise before retiring.
It is no secret the former UConn Huskies guard Paige Bueckers is special. In early April she led the Huskies to a 37-3 (18-0 Big East) record and the AP No. 1 overall rank before cementing her legacy with the Huskies NCAA record 12th National Championship. Less than 2 weeks later, she was drafted No. 1 overall in the WNBA Draft by the Dallas Wings.
Paige Bueckers is still one of the top candidates to win WNBA Rookie of the Year. Former UConn teammate Azzi Fudd highlighted what she thinks are some of Bueckers' overlooked skills while in attendance for the Wings' game against the Atlanta Dream on Saturday.
On Wednesday, WNBA reporter Roberta F. Rodrigues posted on X that Madison Scott, the Ole Miss standout and Dallas Wings’ second-round pick (No. 14 overall) in the 2025 draft, has signed with the 3x3 Basketball Association (3XBA), a FIBA-commissioned pro 3×3 league in the United States.
It’s clear now that the Rookie of the Year race surely is not a 1-player conversation. Bueckers has had a great start to her season personally, despite the Wings’ inability to win a basketball game so far, and she’s in the mix, of course.
