A U.S. Senate panel will not move forward with President Donald Trump’s pick for the top federal prosecutor in Washington, D.C. before his temporary appointment expires later this month, a source close to the nomination process told Reuters on Tuesday.

The announcement of the interim appointment comes after the president abandoned his original nominee for the role, Ed Martin, over Republican pushback.
