The Houston Astros have traded Forrest Whitley to the Tampa Bay Rays for $100,000, sending the struggling right-hander to a new home after he was once a highly regarded prospect.

He has been a prodigy and a bust. A culprit of his own doing and a victim of cruel circumstances. He was once the best pitching prospect in the game, and was also dumped last week for next to nothing.

The Rays on Friday acquired right-hander Forrest Whitley from the Astros for cash considerations. Whitley, a former first-round Draft pick in 2016, was designated for assignment by Houston on June 8.
