Hurricane Gabrielle is now expected to become a major Category 3 hurricane with maximum sustained winds of 120 mph as rapidly as Monday night, according to a National Hurricane Center forecast. However, it is expected to weaken quickly afterward as it hits drier air and wind shear, forecasters said.
