Petra Kvitová, the two-time Wimbledon champion and former world No. 2, has announced she will retire after this year’s U.S. Open. Kvitová, 35, won the Billie Jean King Cup six times with the Czech Republic and has 31 singles titles to her name.

The Czech, who turned pro in 2006, won her maiden Grand Slam five years later at The Championships by beating Maria Sharapova in the final and also achieved a career-high ranking of No. 2 the same year. Three years later, the 35-year-old - who has 31 titles in her collection - lifted her second Major at The Championships.
