The U.S. and China reached a framework on a deal to move TikTok to U.S. ownership and avoid a ban, as President Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping plan to finalize it this week.
TikTok’s algorithm and board of directors will be “controlled by America” as part of a deal reached with China earlier this week, White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said Saturday, following earlier disputes from ByteDance, TikTok’s China-based parent firm.
President Trump said Friday that Chinese President Xi Jinping had approved a deal to keep TikTok running in the U.S. after months of uncertainty about the popular video-sharing app’s future under a 2024 law.
