David Peterson accomplished a personal milestone for the New York Mets on Wednesday. In his 12th start of the season for the Mets and the 98th of his career, Peterson tossed his first career complete game shutout against the Washington Nationals.

Peterson was bolstered by a Mets offense whose components seem to finally all be clicking at once. Juan Soto hit a two-run homer in the third, and Brandon Nimmo hit solo shots in the fifth and seventh. He, McNeil and Alonso have all collected multi-homer games in the past three days.
