Foreign nationals who seek visas to study in the United States will have to make social media posts public to be scrutinized for hostility toward the U.S.

Rubio paused visa interviews last month while the State Department created rules for the social media screenings. The U.S. State Department is rolling out sweeping new rules for vetting student visa applicants using their social media presence, according to Politico.

The Department of State announced on Wednesday it’s resuming the student visa application process with an increased focus on screening applicants’ social media. The agency suspended the student visa application process in May while it weighed new vetting procedures in an effort to restrict foreign radicals who protest in support of terrorist organizations on college campuses.
