A Ukrainian security official says a drone attack has destroyed more than 40 Russian planes deep in Russia’s territory.

Kyiv has claimed that a large-scale drone strike carried out deep within Russian territory on Sunday destroyed more than 40 military aircraft, in what could be the most damaging Ukrainian drone attack since the start of the war,

Russia launched the biggest number of drones on Ukraine since the full-scale invasion three years ago, Ukraine's air force said on Sunday. The air force said 472 drones were launched over Ukraine. Russian forces also launched seven missiles alongside the barrage of drones, said Yuriy Ignat, head of communications for the Ukrainian air force.
