Apr 14, 2022 · I would expect any named cheese to be capitalized - their names are proper nouns. Gorgonzola is a place, as are Cheddar, Cheshire, Wensleydale, Gouda and Roquefort. Clochette means "little bell", and it's a name. The only time I don't expect cheese to be capitalized is when it's a description such as "cream cheese" or "blue cheese".
