The role of bases and operational flexibility ​The Iranian Air Force operated with a network of major and sub-bases: Mehrabad in Tehran, Nozhe in Hamedan, Vahdati in Dezful, Bushehr, Bandar Abbas and even a leading unit in Chabahar. This dispersion made it possible that no strikes could destroy all planes at once. It was also possible to quickly shift squadrons between the fronts. For this reason, the Phantoms were able to enter action from different parts of the country within a few hours. ​Res
