When Nazi Germany invaded the Soviet Union during WWII, Jews in Minsk, the capital of Belarus, were forced into a ghetto. Within two years, almost all of them - up to 100,000 people - were murdered in the Holocaust. The ghetto was finally liquidated on this day in October 1943.
